Nearly 500 Byrnes High School students are headed for bright futures, as they officially walked across the stage and became high school graduates May 24. The Class of 2016 was honored during a special ceremony before a huge crowd at Nixon Field.
Byrnes Principal Dr. Jeff Rogers addressed the class, and gave special recognition to Valedictorian, Rebecca Glenn, and Salutatorian, Harry Stathakis. Spartanburg District Five School Superintendent Dr. Scott Turner congratulated each graduate as they received their diploma.
The Class of 2016 excelled in every area: academics, fine arts, athletics and leadership. The class included 24 Palmetto Fellows, six Scholar's Academy graduates, and six South Carolina Teaching Fellows. In addition, members of the Class of 2016 received more than $14 million in scholarships to attend colleges and universities across the country.
