Meet Mrs. Knox

counselor

Mrs. Knox is concerned with your child's mental, emotional, social, physical, and educational development.  She provides the following services which are available as needed:

-Counseling - Counseling services can be provided individually, in small groups, or in classrooms.
-Consulting – Consultation services provide information and skills to parents, staff, and the community to assist them with helping students in personal/social, academic, and career development.
-Coordination –A school counselor coordinates services for students in a variety of ways.  These may involve gathering, interpreting, and disseminating information, participating in individual or group conferences, coordinating needs assessments, and or assisting with guidance-related school programs.

Social Emotional Learning
SEL is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions (CASEL).
-Spartanburg District Five incorporated the Panorama survey in the 2020-2021 school year that addresses our student’s social emotional needs. The surveys capture our student voice by measuring student perceptions and gathers feedback from students about their classroom experience.
-In addition to the support provided through our School Counselor, our classroom teachers will be dedicating time during the day called “Community Time” to work with their students on character development lessons and social emotional learning.
