We are so proud of our new Beta Club inductees! These 4th and 5th grade students became part of our inaugural group of members of our LES Beta Club during the induction ceremony.
The four pillars of the National Beta Club are Achievement, Character, Leadership, and Service. The Beta Club aims to promote these ideals among elementary and secondary school students. These pillars are foundational to the club's mission and activities.
We are looking forward to seeing these students uphold these four pillars throughout their educational careers!
Chartwells had their Discovery Kitchen Pop-Up come to LES!
Discovery Kitchen is a food-focused tasting event where students can try something new during lunch.
The tasting even this time was mocamole – served with crispy tortilla chips! Sound familiar? It’s just like guacamole – but made with peas!
This April, the Discovery Kitchen theme is Waste Warrior. Designed to engage students with fresh recipes, delicious demos, and informative nutrition, Waste Warrior empowers students to help prevent food waste at school and home. With the help of Chartwells, students will have the chance to learn about food waste and try a sustainable, plant-forward recipe.
The fresh mocamole is made with green peas, lemon juice, ground cumin, garlic powder, and mild salsa.
Many students were happy to take a recipe card home to create their version of the mocamole and were also excited to find out they could purchase the ingredients to make it at nearby grocery stores, such as Ingles. The Chartwells chefs also discussed ways to change the recipe if they didn’t care for it.
Discovery Kitchen events are always a fan favorite!

Thursday, April 17th is our annual Evening with the Arts!
LES students and families are invited to attend this fun night full of celebrating the Arts here at Lyman.
Along with various Arts stations to participate in, each student will have artwork displayed in the school-wide art show. You may purchase your child’s framed artwork and take it home that evening. Pre-purchasing the artwork before the event is encouraged. More information will be sent home soon about this process.

Spring Picture Day is this Thursday, March 13! 🦁💐📷
On Tuesday our 4th graders were able to travel to Twitchell Auditorium for the Spartanburg Philharmonic’s Link Up Concert. This program is designed by Carnegie Hall’s Music Institute. With the help of their music teachers, Mrs. Painter and Mrs. Rhoden, these students were able to participate in the orchestra concert by singing and dancing! Our kids loved getting to experience all of the instruments live and in person.
We had so much fun on this first day of Read Across America Week. Hats off to reading!
Our 3rd and 4th graders completed their Science Fair Projects! They were judged today. We can't wait to hear who the winners were!🔬🧪🧫🦁
Today Lyman 5th graders journeyed to Asheville, NC to see the remarkable Biltmore Estate. We learned all about George Vanderbilt's dream for his 250-room Asheville home and the impact he and his wife, Edith, had on the surrounding community. Our Lions were amazed with the architecture, art collection, abundant greenhouse, and sustainable farming found at the estate. Our Lions made us proud today!

Today, four of our 3rd grade classes took a field trip to the Upstate Children’s Museum. They had so much fun learning through all of the hands-on exhibits!
Today our 5th grade students went to DR Hill Middle School to begin the process of becoming 6th grade students next year. They learned about class options, AVID, DR Hill expectations, and toured the school.
Our 100th day of school will be next Friday, January 24th!
Today second grade students had a special in-school field trip with Pierce's Scaly Adventures. They were able to get a close look at a variety of reptiles to learn that you can't judge a book by its cover. Students found out interesting information about snakes and reptiles while focusing on character traits such as being kind, showing respect and staying positive.
