Happy First Day of Summer Vacation! Start today off with a good habit for the whole summer....READ! Research shows that reading at least 20 minutes a day helps prevent the summer slide. The summer slide is a loss of learning during the summer months when out of school. Use our Summer Reading Challenge to avoid the slide! Or try one of these great options for reading this summer: Spartanburg County Public Library's Summer Reading Program - The program starts June 1. Students can read books to get a prize. The public library has a lot of awesome and free activities throughout the summer. Each branch has different events. https://www.spartanburglibraries.org/Events/Summer-reading-2024 Barnes and Noble - Download and print a Reading Journal. Then, read eight books and record the titles in the printed journal. Once you’ve read the 8 books, take your journal to your local Barnes and Noble to get a free book. Summer Office Hours: Tuesday, May 28-Friday, June 1: 7:00am-4:00pm (Regular Hours) Starting June 3: Our Office will be open Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm Our Office will be Closed: May 27 June 19 July 4 Fridays (starting June 7) Regular Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm Office Hours resume on July 29.

We hope everyone has a terrific last day of school! Meet the Teacher will be Thursday, August 8, 2024, by appointment. Teachers will be in touch with families to make the appointments later in the summer. The first day of school for students is August 12, 2024. Have a safe and happy Summer Break!

Thank you for all the support of our Beanstack program! Since our kickoff in mid-February, we've been building a culture of reading with our students and faculty. Can't wait to see what we accomplish together next year!

Reminder to all families! Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22nd and Thursday, May 23rd are half days of school with dismissal at 11:30am. Thursday, May 23rd is also the last day of school.

A big thank you to Hannah Faith Mitchell, Miss Byrnes High 2024, for the donation of a book to our school library. The gift is part of her platform “Readers Are Leaders” as Miss Byrnes . We appreciate the book for students to check out and read for themselves!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES! Next week is the last week of school. Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 are half days for students. May 23 is also the LAST day of school for students.

Congratulations to Faith Burnett, our Superintendent’s Citizenship Award winner for 2024! Faith, a fourth grader, is well liked by all her classmates. She works hard for her teachers and is always ready to help. She loves drawing and her favorite subject is math. Her bright smile and sunny attitude make her a favorite all around the building.

SC Ready testing continues this week for our 3rd and 4th graders. Please help your student have a successful testing experience tomorrow and Wednesday by encouraging a good night’s sleep, making sure they eat a nutritious breakfast, and please avoid scheduling appointments on test days.
