Ms. Grummel's classes have been taking advantage of this beautiful weather ☀️lately by having reading time outdoors in our reading garden. 📖🌳
Our sixth grade science classes have been learning about Thermal Energy🔥 They've worked hard to build and create 🐧🏠 Penguin houses using their knowledge of conductors and insulators. 🧶🥄 Mrs. Mitchell's class can be seen below creating the houses then testing them out and to see who's house "SAVED" the ice cube penguin by not allowing it to melt. 🧊Check out their great work below. ⬇️
Students made board games for Mrs. Chapman's first unit on decimals and fractions. Last week for review they played each others games. 👾🎯🎱
Mrs Bailey’s classes took coordinate graphing to the hallway! They created grids on the floor to get a full hands on approach to learning. Way to go!! 🎊 #BeechSprings
Our students and staff showed out today for “Kidz in Lids!” project for the Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas🧢 Our school raised $489 today and we are so proud. 😌 All money will be sent to Kidz in Lids, who donates the money towards childhood cancer research.🎗️ #BeechSprings #KidzinLids
Mrs. Wilson's students have been learning how to organize a reader's notebook this past week. 📓 They learned what makes a good readers notebook, and the importance of staying organized! 📚📖📒Way to go students! #BeechSprings #AVID
🥽Students in Mrs. Landon's class tested out different materials to see which was the best insulator to keep the soda cans cold. 🧦 They compared their data to their other classmates and will use this information 💭🧠 later this week when designing their penguin houses.🧊🐧.#BeechSprings #STEM

Mrs. Collins classes have been studying Westward Expansion. Last week they took a hands on approach and made wagons from food items. The best part was the ending when they got to taste their creations! 🤤😋 #BeechSprings #Socialstudies
🏠Our Home Economics group had the halls smelling delicious this afternoon. 👃👃They learned to write a recipe, follow the recipe using measuring tools, prep their food and toppings, and then eat their tasty creation! Today they made tacos, spanish rice, and beans. 🌮🌮 #WeAreD5 #BeechSprings

Our 6th graders have been learning about heat transfer and took their learning to the lab. 🧑🏼🔬👩🔬 They cooked popcorn using three different methods, then identified which method of transfer took place. 🔥 And to finish it off, they ate the popcorn. 🍿🍿 #BeechSprings

Mrs. Richards' class used the Writing Makerspace to "Make Writing". They compared Bruno's feelings and the mood of the story The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, using the items purchased with her Teacher Forum grant funds. She had her students choose items that would best display their depiction of chapter 2 of the story, which contrasts the two living situations when he has to move and make note of why they chose those specific items. 📚🧵
