Olweus Bullying Prevention Program
The Olweus Program (pronounced Ol-VAY-us) is a comprehensive approach that focused on long-term change that creates a safe and positive school climate. The program’s goals are:
reduce and prevent bullying problems among school children
improve peer relations at school.
The program has been found to reduce bullying among students, improve the social climate of classrooms, and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as vandalism and truancy.
Definition of bullying: A person is bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons, and he or she has difficulty defending himself or herself.
3 Key Components of Bullying Behavior:
Involves an aggressive behavior
Typically involves a pattern of behavior repeated over time
Imbalance of power or strength

We will NOT bully others.
We will try to help students who are bullied.
We will try to include students who are left out.
If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
