2023-24 Members

The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.  Our 53 members have been divided into 3 caucuses: Academic, School Spirit, and Community Link. They are coordinating and self-managing programs to highlight our campus AVID initiatives, encourage peers through hallway awards, they are developing outreach programs for local church organizations and senior communities, and our link crew welcomes new students with bright smiles and peer buddies to ensure all students feel welcome on campus!

Our student body and faculty held D.R. Hill's first school-wide Presidential Election!

Students and faculty participated in a very tight race to elect our Class President, Amayah Williams! Amayah is an 8th-grade student who ran a campaign on experience, consistency, and a focus on academics!

She selected her Vice-President, Mikaela McAbee. Mikaela is a 7th-grade student who ran a campaign on engaging her 7th-grade class to seek ownership of their campus!

These two were able to meet the District Superintendent, and will be involved in several initiatives on and off campus this school year!
Go TIGERS!

News

November Update:

Our Student Council has made amazing moves to share the positive culture here at DR HILL Middle School. Here are a few updates:

Lyman Reading Buddies Partnership

Led by our Class President, Amayah Williams, and Community Link lead, Isabella Alvarez, the Student Council along with Dr. Kennedy Norungolo, have partnered with Lyman Elementary to encourage their reading initiatives on campus! There is no better way to make mentors, and leaders of our Tigers than to share the joy of reading with their younger peers at the elementary school!

Raising our Flag!

Our House Speaker, Rhy'Jon Davis, and Community Link lead, Isabella Alvarez, along with Officer Castillo, honor our nation and wonderful state flag, by raising it high and proud every morning! Our students feel a great sense of pride and patriotism daily before each day begins!

Building a Legacy of Leadership

Our team of 51 has Friday officer meetings that allow the students to take ownership of their campus, build upon a vision of DR HILL, and learn collaborative skills that will make them leaders of tomorrow! Go Tigers!

Guidelines for Student Council:

We are looking for outstanding students to make up the D. R. Hill Middle School Student Council. These students should exhibit positive leadership abilities, a good attitude, and a strong work ethic. High standards have been set for students who seek to be elected. Students elected to student council will have an opportunity to participate in fundraising activities and serve their school and community by volunteering. In order to become a candidate for student council, you must fully understand and be able to meet the following requirements:

Character and citizenship:

  1. Each member must be willing to give a great deal of time and hard work to the service projects decided on by student council. This may require time outside of the school day.

  2. As mentioned before, each member must exhibit positive leadership, high moral character, good citizenship, and cooperation with their classmates and teachers.  You must also keep in mind that you represent DRH outside of school, so these standards must be maintained in the community as well.

  3. You must not have excessive referrals during the previous or current school year.

  4. You must be in good academic standing.

  5. Teacher recommendations will also be considered.

  6. Standards must be maintained throughout the year if you are elected to Student Council.
