As the 2024-25 school year approaches, Spartanburg District Five Schools is pleased to announce that all elementary school students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. The news is a part of a continuing commitment on behalf of District Five, through it's participation in the Community Eligibility Program for 2024-25. This means all students in Kindergarten-5th grade are eligible for the free breakfast and lunch program, at no cost to them. Families of elementary school students do not need to fill out meal applications to receive this benefit.

Happy First Day of Summer Vacation! Start today off with a good habit for the whole summer....READ! Research shows that reading at least 20 minutes a day helps prevent the summer slide. The summer slide is a loss of learning during the summer months when out of school. Use our Summer Reading Challenge to avoid the slide! Go to https://launchpad.classlink.com/d5live to log into Beanstack and track your reading. Or try one of these great options for reading this summer: Spartanburg County Public Library's Summer Reading Program - The program starts June 1. Students can read books to get a prize. The public library has a lot of awesome and free activities throughout the summer. Each branch has different events. https://www.spartanburglibraries.org/Events/Summer-reading-2024 Barnes and Noble - Download and print a Reading Journal. Then, read eight books and record the titles in the printed journal. Once you’ve read the 8 books, take your journal to your local Barnes and Noble to get a free book. You can also find a printable parent’s guide with tips and fun literacy activities. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/summer-reading/_/N-2m39
