Katie Thompson, a senior varsity cheerleader at James F. Byrnes and a student in Mrs. Heather Poore's Leadership Byrnes class started a Passion Project last spring to find ways to welcome Tyger River Elementary into the D5 family. Two of her goals included donating bookbags with supplies for students in need and recruiting fellow cheerleaders and football players to help with morning car duty. Earlier this month, students at TRE were greeted with smiles, high fives and knuckle bumps.
