Twenty violin and viola players from Berry Shoals had a blast participating in the SC ASTA Violin & Viola Choir at North Greenville University this past weekend! The students learned instrument-specific technique and performed with a choir of over 80 violin and viola players. What an awesome opportunity for our orchestra students!
Congratulations to the following students on successful region band auditions:
Liam Wideman - 5th Chair Tuba (All-State callback)
Morgan Burgess- 1st Alternate Bassoon
Ethan Pegram - 5th Alternate Trombone
We are so proud of these students! It is a huge accomplishment to make region band as a 6th grader as you compete mainly against 7th and 8th graders! They represented our school and community well at their auditions. They will participate in the region band clinic on February 23rd and 24th at Spartanburg High School. Their final concert will be at 3:00 on the 24th. Please come out and support these amazing students if you can!

📢WEATHER ALERT 📢
The National Weather Service has issued another strong wind advisory for Friday, January 12. 💨 The latest forecast predicts wind gusts up to 50 mph beginning at 1:00 p.m. Due to this advisory - District Five will be operating on a half day schedule tomorrow.
Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:00 a.m., intermediate schools at 11:30 a.m., and middle and high schools will dismiss at 12:00 p.m.
We understand that this may cause an inconvenience for our parents and families. However, the state of SC mandates that school districts keep school buses off the roads when sustained winds are forecasted for 30 miles an hour and gusts exceed 40 miles an hour or more. 🚌 Also, conditions could potentially not be safe for our student drivers after 1:00 p.m. 🚗
Parents who transport your children, please plan to pick up students at these times, so our faculty and staff can travel home safely.
All after school activities and events are also canceled for tomorrow.
We are monitoring the National Weather Service and local forecasts, and should conditions change, we will let our staff, parents and families know as soon as possible. 💨💨💨 We appreciate your patience and understanding as safety is always our top priority in District Five. #WeAreD5
Now this is what collaboration looks like! Mrs. Sosa’s 5th grade students are back hard at work today by rehearsing their scripts for their short films. After writing and editing their scripts, students are now in the process of memorizing lines and incorporating media into their short films! These students are working so hard and we can’t wait to share their final product with parents.
