Fourth graders in Mrs. Kurtycz and Buxton’s classes had a socratic circle today! 📚Fourth grade has been studying the Road to the Revolution. Scholars used their social studies notes from their unit to help guide their conversation. By the end of the socratic circle, students had new insights and profound ideas.🚀
Next week is R.E.D. week here at Reidville Elementary School. This week is a way to celebrate and encourage students to make Really Excellent Decisions. Please check out the graphic to view the theme for each day. Friday, October 27th will be our annual Book Character Parade. We can't wait to see what amazing books are brought in!
Mrs. Fabian's 5K class read Mo Willem’s books that showed how the author communicates character feelings using speech bubbles. Then in writing, they added speech bubbles to the books they are writing! 📚In celebration of the color pink, they also made pink cupcakes and read, "If You Give a Pig A Pancake"!🩷 Bingo Math is always a good time too! 🚀

Mrs. Carovillano's third grade class is working on identifying character traits by analyzing the characters feelings, dialogue, actions, and thoughts. For this activity, groups read a short paragraph about a character and analyzed it to figure out which character trait is being represented. 📚❤️🚀
It's fire safety week and the Reidville Fire Department showed up! Thank you RFD for coming to demonstrate the importance of fire safety while also letting our students check out the truck and gear!

Ms. Loving's class had a great time at the pumpkin patch yesterday. They got to visit animals, take a hayride, and eat ice-cream too! 🚀❤️📚
Mrs. Clark's 5K class read Creepy Crayon today since purple is their color of the week. After reading the story, we completed a directed drawing of Creepy Crayon. Then we made a special snack!
Mrs. Fabian's 5K Fishies celebrated orange week with fall Jello jigglers! They combined strawberry red and lemon yellow Jello.
Parents, tomorrow is an early release day for the entire District. Please take note that elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30. Buses will operate as usual. The After-School Program will not run so please be sure to let your student's teacher know how they will be getting home at 11:30.
Second graders ended their first math unit of the year by participating in the "Great Reidville Bake-off". Students worked in teams to produce baked goods and design a bakery storefront to show off their knowledge of arrays. Each group presented their storefronts complete with repeated addition sentences. Students also got to sample bakery items for their snack! Learning sure is fun...and tasty too! 🚀❤️📚
Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Spartanburg School District 5, including Reidville Elementary School, will be having an Early Release Day for Staff Professional Development.
Students will be dismissed at 11:30am. If your student will be going home in a way that is not their normal dismissal procedure, please send a note or a message to your student's teacher.
Additionally, we will be serving lunch on the early dismissal day. Our lunch times will be different and eating at school with your student on Wednesday will be unavailable.
