FYI Spring Picture Day is February 21st. These will be full body photographs. A proof or portrait package will be sent home from school with information on how to order. The photographers suggest Picture Day attire with solid colors and small patterns work best. They also suggest avoiding clothing with large images and logos. Here's an example with this year's background included to help you plan ahead. 📷

Yesterday our school had so much fun kicking off this year’s Kids Heart Challenge! Alongside this year’s heart heroes, we’re learning about healthy hearts and life lessons like getting active, asking for help, resting well and being kind. BONUS: your student will get a free wristband for joining at http://www2.heart.org/goto/RiverRidge or using the AHA Schools app. If you choose to donate, we are only accepting online donations. You can share your page with friends and family via social media, text or e-mail to rally others to help this great cause as well!  

Please support our Student Council's Service Project benefitting Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. Kidz in Lids mobilizes students to show concern for the kids in their community with cancer. It's so simple! Caring kids bring a $1 to school and get to wear their favorite hats throughout the school day on Friday, February 2nd. By participating in Kidz in Lids, we'll help local children from our district get to their cancer treatments. Our support ensures that mileage, gas, transportation, food, and lodging are covered while they are being treated far from home. Thank you for your support of our Student Council and their project!

The 2024-25 school year calendar has just been released. The first day of school for students for the 2024-25 school year will be August 12, with the last day on May 23, 2025. The winter holidays will begin on December 21 and last through January 3 for students. Spring Break is scheduled for April 7-11. As the district has done the last several years, there will be two "Early Release Days" for students during the year, one scheduled for October 2, 2024, and the other on February 26, 2025. Early release days follow the district's "half day schedule" for students, and allow time for professional development time for teachers and staff. We are so excited to host District Five Board Member, Meredith Gergley, today in honor of School Board Appreciation Month. We can't wait to show her all of the great things happening in our building. We appreciate her dedication and service to District Five!

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year is now open, and parents and families are encouraged to register now to prepare for the upcoming school year. Our school is accepting new student registrations Monday-Friday, during normal business hours. Simply visit our school in person to register your child. A reminder to families that use River Ridge's Afterschool Program of information shared yesterday: the Afterschool Program will not be open this afternoon. Our school is dismissing at 11:00am.

FYI Families! We are still having our Terrific Kid program this morning at 8:15. Today will also be a half day due to weather with dismissal at 11:00am.

Important Message from Spartanburg 5: Due to a strong wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service, District Five Schools will be on a half day schedule Friday January 12. Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:00 a.m, intermediate schools at 11:30 and middle and high schools at 12:00 p.m. All after school activities & events are also canceled.
