Flashlight reading 🔦📚 makes Friday even more fantastic for Mrs. Cobb's 5th graders.
Mrs. Cloonan's class 🐼 took some time this week to make cards to thank those who have helped us recover from Hurricane Helene and to encourage those who are still recovering. ❤️ #WeareD5 #PandaPride
It was double the fun and no trouble in Mrs. Cobb's class yesterday! 🐼🐼
Congratulations to Mrs. Dianna Bembenek on being named River Ridge's Distinguished Literacy Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Bembenek is a member of our second grade team. 🐼 ❤️
Coming Up! CogAT and IOWA testing for 2nd Graders. CogAT testing dates are October 15-17. IOWA testing dates are October 21-22.
Testing Tips for Families
1. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before the test.
2. On the morning of the test, your child needs to get up in plenty of time so he/she won't feel rushed.
3. Feed your child a good breakfast. Research shows that children do better on tests if they have had a good breakfast.
4. Be on time for school.
5. Do as much as you can to make your child feel comfortable. Try not to say things to make him/her feel more nervous.
6. Reassure your child that no matter the outcome of the test you will still love him/her. Encourage them to simply do their best.
We're wearing orange next Wednesday, October 16, in support of bullying prevention. 🧡
We are back on our regular schedule ⏰ tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9! 🐼
Information to help you tomorrow with our 2 hour delay. No school for K4 or PCD, since they are half day programs. ⬇️
Great news! Our phones lines are up and running again. Please call (864) 949-7620, if you need to reach our office.
Let's be Comfy & Cozy TOGETHER - students come in your comfy clothes on Tuesday! We cannot wait to welcome you back and be together again. ❤️
We look forward to seeing all of our students on Tuesday! At this time, the school phone service does not work. The district has created a temporary phone number for River Ridge. If you need to call the school for any reason, the temporary number is (864) 949-1960. This number will work during regular school hours, but will not let you leave us a message after hours. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
As our community continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, District Five is announcing a plan to reopen our schools. 🏫 As of today, all of our schools have power, and our team has been working hard to ensure our buildings are safe for students and staff to return.
Monday, October 7, will be a workday for all District Five teachers and staff, to allow time for planning and preparation. This will also allow additional time for power to be restored to homes, and for city and county crews to clear remaining storm debris from our roads. 🚧 All District Five students will return to school on Tuesday, October 8, on a two hour delay. This delay will allow extra time in the morning for buses, student drivers and families to safely travel to school. ⏰
Our transportation team continues to monitor our bus routes to ensure they are safe for student travel. 🚌
We can't wait to welcome our students back to school, and help our community return to normal. We are thankful for your support during this difficult time! ❤️ #WeAreD5
We are overwhelmed by the response, and the generosity of our community ❤️ Today, we served nearly 3,000 meals, and tomorrow we’ll do it again! 🍎
Along with our partners from Chartwells, District Five will be serving free meals on Tuesday, October 1, at Byrnes High School to all students, staff, families, and community members who need them 🍽 🥪🥦 Hours will be 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. All meals will again be packed “to go”, and can be picked up in the outside patio area next to the school cafeteria ✅ Just park in the senior parking lot off East Main Street, and come pick up your meals.
We will serve until 1:00 p.m. or until the meals run out. Once again, our hearts are with all of you, and we’re grateful for this chance to serve our D5 community. ❤️ #WeAreD5
All District Five schools will remain closed for the remainder of this week, through Friday, October 4. 🏫 All after school activities and programs are also canceled until further notice.
A majority of our schools and homes in our district remain without power. 💡 Many roads are still impassable due to downed trees and power lines, preventing safe travel for our school buses. 🚌
Due to the widespread power and internet outages that continue, there will be no e-Learning expectations this week. 💻
We know our students are safe havens for our students. We cannot wait to reopen our doors, welcome our students back, and give them a sense of normalcy again. ❤️ Please stay safe! 🫶
District Five Family: We know there are so many in our school and district community who are without right now, and we want to help! 🫶 Today, Monday, September 30, we’ll be offering FREE MEALS at Byrnes High School from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m, to any students, staff, families, or community members who need them 🍽 All meals will be packed “to go”, and can be picked up in the outdoor patio area beside the school cafeteria 🏫 Simply park in the senior parking lot off East Main Street and come pick up your meals 🍎 🥦 🥪 We’ll serve until 2:00 p.m., or until the meals run out. We’re ONE District Five family, and we’re in this together. Please know our hearts are with you! ❤️ #WeAreD5
Due to the impact of Tropical Storm Helene, all District Five schools and buildings will be closed on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1. 🏫 As there are widespread power and internet outages, there will be NO E-LEARNING EXPECTATIONS on these days. Our number one priority is the safety of our students, staff, and their families. ❤️ You are in our thoughts, along with our entire community. Please stay safe! #WeAreD5
Mrs. Harrington’s class celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day! They learned he was a community leader and encouraged people to eat healthy. The students made applesauce, learned about fractions, and the apple’s life cycle. What a wonderful way to learn how to be a good neighbor! 🍎
❤️ these peer writing conferences in Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Green's classes!
Mrs. Jordan’s Little Sunshine’s had a blast celebrating Johnny Appleseed’s birthday! Students got to taste a variety of apple snacks and vote on which color apple they like best! We also had fun Apple stamping, Qtip painting, and making Johnny’s pot hat. We love apples!🍎🍏
It's Thursday and that means we're twinning again in 5th grade! We love how they matched up everything down to the hairstyles. ❤️
