Mrs. Harvey's Class has been reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" written by Bill Marten and illustrated by Eric Carle. They have been working on animals and colors while practicing story sequencing. They made brown bear hats to show the colors of animals and their sequence in the story.
We celebrated #internationaldotday today at Tyger River! Ms. Hinch and Mrs. Cassidy's classes created Dot Day projects, then worked together to create a picture of TRE using stickers. About 1,250 stickers when into their awesome artwork!
Ms. Cassidy's class visited the library for a lesson about summarization! They read "After the Fall" by Dan Santat with Mrs. Smith and worked in groups on a summarization assignment. They finished off the lesson by designing their own paper airplanes (just like the one in the story) and had a contest to see which one could fly the longest distance!
Mrs. Bright's and Mrs. Duncan's homerooms have been learning about solubility in science. They put their new learning to the test with some hands-on learning by testing the solubility of different substances in water!
We’re celebrating International Dot Day on Monday, September 16th!
We invite all students and staff to wear clothing with dots on them to celebrate Dot Day.
Our teachers and staff will also be doing fun activities to go along with Dot Day in many of our classes!

Students from Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Almond's K5 class met with students from Mrs. Mackey/Mrs. Glenn's 5th grade class for the first time. They got to know each other and explored STEM and math tubs. The classes will partner up throughout the year as reading buddies, STEM partners, mentors, and more.

🐾 Stacey is the School Nurse at TRE and has worked been a nurse for 20 years.
🐾 She was educated at USC Upstate.
🐾 Stacey enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and travel.
🐾 Her favorite part about school nursing is establishing relationships with families and helping children. She loves to see their growth from year to year.
This Friday, August 30th is #collegecolorsday! Be sure to wear your team colors to school on Friday to show your support for your favorite teams and schools!
The next staff member that we would like to introduce is Melanie Tabors McCarty!
🐾 Melanie will be a Teacher Assistant in the Special Education department at TRE and has worked with students for 15 years.
🐾 She is currently attending Western Governors University for dual licensure to recieve a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary and Special Education. She plans to graduate in early 2025.
🐾 Melanie loves any type of music as music is therapy and calms the soul. She has lawn passes and goes to as many concerts as she can! Melanie also loves history and spends a lot of time visiting historical landmarks.
🐾 Her favorite part about teaching is being able to help even one child find a way to help themselves learn. Supports and techniques last a lifetime and build confidence!
Our K4 students have been hard at work this week! They've been working on spelling their names with Play Dough in Mrs. Knepp's class.

🐾 Nancy is the Art Teacher at TRE and has been an educator for 3 years.
🐾 She was educated at Converse College.
🐾 Nancy enjoys spending time with her family, doing art, and watching Disney movies.
🐾 Her favorite part about teaching is helping students get excited and fall in love with art.
🐾 Nancy has two Boston Terriers--Gus Gus and Nessie!
Last week, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Almond’s kindergarten class deep dived into the book, Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom. 🌴
Students had to work together to make a coconut tree and count how many letters it will hold before falling. Lots of skills were practiced today (patience, communication, teamwork, inquiry, etc). CHICKA CHICKA BOOM BOOM! 🌴 ABC
