Hello to my current and future Wolves! My name is Megan Irby and I am thrilled to serve as one of your school counselors! As a former middle school teacher, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with the middle school years. I aspired to change roles within the school setting about 9 years ago because my passion is to provide that deeper level of support, guiding students in their academics, personal development, and emotional resilience. What excites me the most about my role is the opportunity to be a consistent, positive presence during a pivotal time in their development. I value the collaboration between school, families, and the community because together we can create a strong system of support for our students to thrive. To support our students' needs, we aim to create a comprehensive school counseling program that aligns with the standards and ethics of the American School Counseling Association National Model.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Converse College (Converse University), a Master’s degree in Education from Converse College, and a Master’s Plus 30 in School Counseling from the University of Alabama.
Please reach out to me by email or phone if I can help in any way.

My name is Shameka Dunlap, and I am excited to serve as a School Counselor at Abner Creek Middle School. With a background as an Early Childhood Educator, I bring a wealth of experience in understanding the developmental needs of students. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development & Family Studies from USC Upstate and a Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Capella University. I am pursuing my doctoral studies at Walden University, which further equips me with the skills to advocate for our students' emotional, academic, and social development. I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
At Abner Creek Middle School, my plans include implementing comprehensive counseling programs in alignment with the ASCA National Model that addresses various student needs. I aim to facilitate activities and services focused on social-emotional learning, academic support, and career exploration. These initiatives will empower students and engage families in the process, fostering a community of support. I believe that collaboration with teachers, parents, and community resources is critical in supporting our students effectively. Together, we can create a nurturing atmosphere that encourages students to thrive academically and personally.
Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you and your student!
My caseload is 8th grade/7th grade N-Z.

Hello Abner Creek Wolves! My name is Meridith Moore, and I am excited to be your Career Development Facilitator (CDF) this year! My job is to help students in making informed decisions about their future education and career. Together, we will explore student interests, strengthen soft skills, and have meaningful learning opportunities. We will take career and interest assessments and hear from guest speakers within our community to share about their career journey. When students are in 8th Grade, they will choose a career cluster of study on their IGP (Individual Graduation Plan).
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from NC State University (Go Pack!) and Master’s and Educational Specialist Degrees in Counselor Education from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) I am also a Global Career Development Facilitator. Prior to working as a CDF, I was a school counselor!
If you have questions about careers or are interested in partnering with Abner Creek Middle School to support students in making decisions for life during and after high school, please contact me at meridith.moore@spart5.net. I am excited to learn together this year!
