8th grade science students in Mrs. Landon's classes modeled the seasons today based on their characteristics of where the Earth is in orbit. They worked together with their groups to set up their model then answered their questions at the end. Great job students, way to collaborate!

Mrs. Landon and Mrs. McCrary's 8th grade science classes modeled the lunar phases today to understand the lunar cycle. 🌖🌗🌘🌑They used data and evidence from their model to predict what type of moon we'll have tonight. Spoiler alert, it's a full moon. 🌕

Due to a winter storm watch issued by the National Weather Service, all District Five Schools and offices will be closed on Friday, January 10. ❄️ Friday, January 10 will be an e-Learning day for all District Five students. 💻 This decision was made in the best interest of safety for all D5 students and staff, as snow, sleet and ice is predicted by late Friday morning, and roads will likely be unsafe for buses, families or student drivers to travel 🚌❄️🚗
Teachers will be in touch with students regarding all e-Learning assignments 📚📝. All after school and weekend activities are also canceled.📆
We appreciate your patience and understanding, as safety is always our top priority in District Five! #WeAreD5

New year, new semester, but the same FCA starting the year off right. 💯 We love to see our students starting off their day with a Word!

"It's a total eclipse.." 🌕☀️Students in Mrs. Landon and Mrs. McCrary's science classes have been studying eclipses this week. Today they demonstrated how the positions of the sun, Earth, and moon determine the type of eclipse using models they created to scale. Way to go scientists! 🫡

Ms. West's classes eased back into ELA today doing a directed drawing of their brain and writing positive affirmations to keep our brains healthy.🧠

Mrs. Collins' classes wrapped up their unit on SC’s colonial economy with a fun trading game. Way to work together and collaborate!

Students in Mrs. Landon and Mrs. McCrary's science classes👩🔬have been studying waves.🌊 Today they compared how signals🛜travel by wrapping their phones in paper towels and then aluminum foil to see the effect it would have on the call. The tin foil blocked the signal and sent their calls to voicemail.📶 Similar to how calls get dropped on metal elevators. What a fun way to apply their knowledge!🧠

Christmas around the World!! 🌍 Miss Halls World Geo. class took part in a scavenger hunt to find out how holidays are celebrated in different countries!🕵They learned how to say "happy holidays" in different languages & learned about different foods, songs, and traditions. 🎄

Pastor Tripp brought a great word this morning to our students in FCA.

We shine bright like a LIGHT at Beech! Students and staff were festive today with all of their bright colors and lights! 🎄

Many of our Beech Springs panthers were honored at the Spartanburg District 5 board meeting last night, take a look below! ⬇️

Students dissected a sheep brain in Dr. Kirkland's Medical Detectives Class. They labeled 22 parts of the sheep brain. 🧠

🌧️ Rainy and cold 🥶 weather? No problem! Our students didn't let a little drizzle keep them from enjoying recess! We used our indoor auxiliary gym🏐🎉 Just another reason it's GREAT to be a Panther! 🐆

Mrs. McCrary and Mrs. Landon's science🥼 classes used slinkies to demonstrate transverse and longitudes waves today with a partner. They then used their observation 🔍 and inference skills to describe the differences between both. Way to go Panthers! 🐆

Our AVID students were graced with a visit from Chief Gregg Satterfield who came and spoke about a career in Law Enforcement and Public Service. We are grateful for the community support we have here and how they pour into our Panthers!

Mrs. McCrary's 8th graders used their inquiry skills to solve the case of the junkyard crane today and create an electromagnet. Way to apply their knowledge to problem solve. Great job Panthers!

Students in Dr. Kirkland's class created the structure of a neuron while studying about how signals are sent from the brain. 🧠 Impressive work Panthers! 🐆

Some of our 🎼choir students traveled to a choral clinic today at Converse University. They will have their performance tonight at 6pm in the recital hall of the music building. 🎼

Help us congratulate the newest 23 members who were inducted into our Beech Springs Beta club chapter tonight at the FAC. We can't wait to see how these students step up and become leaders within their club and school.
