Today FCMS hosted its first Student House Council. Lots of students ran for offices and gave some great speeches! Congratulations to Deacon Wade, who was chosen as President, and Peyton Smith, who was elected as Vice President. We are looking forward to the good things that our council will do for our school!

Today the Childhood Cancer Awareness Spotlight is on Evan Bigby (7th grade) and Presley Ponce (12th grade). They are not related, but these two share striking similarities. They have red hair, kind hearts, and are both are eye cancer survivors. Evan was diagnosed with retinoblastoma as a baby, while Presley was diagnosed with ocular melanoma while he was in 7th grade at FCMS. They both continue to have scans each year, but are excited to share they are cancer free and doing great! #WeAreD5 #fcmscougars

FCMS is honoring and celebrating our staff members who have served District 5 for 5+ years. We are grateful for your outstanding service!

Congratulations to our athletes of the week: Aubree Herring, Lyric Owen, and Sam Fowler. Aubree is not afraid to try difficult stunts or learn challenging material, and she is phenomenal cheerleader! Lyric had a touchdown reception and two 2-pt conversion catches against Rainbow Lake. Coach Yarborough says that Sam is a leader on the volleyball court with her hustle and consistency.

Game Day!

Today FCMS spotlights Myleigh McDowell. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Myleigh is one of our 7th grade cheerleaders. She was diagnosed with Wilms tumor, a rare kidney cancer that affects children, when she was 7 years old. She is now cancer-free, considered a cancer survivor, and has one of the most infectious smiles on campus. When asked what keeps her going she said her family does and pointed to her sweatshirt which had the quote "Believe there is hope. Be the hope."

Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week! Ari Lanford represents the cheer squad and is a true leader! Volleyball player Kylie Morgan is an excellent example of what it means to be a student athlete. 7th grade football player Asher Humphries had a rushing and receiving touchdown and had a great defensive game. Abram Burroughs had 2 rushing touchdowns and a 2pt conversion to help lead the 8th grade team to victory.

This week, students in Mrs. Backstrom's Fundamentals of Computing class designed apps and then pitched their ideas in the FCMS Shark Tank!
