Welcome to Wellford Academy of Science and Technology! 

We are very excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year! One of the changes you will notice is that Wellford Academy is moving into a brand new state of the art building in August 2024. This building is the only two-story elementary school in District 5, and contains many additional learning spaces for our teachers and students. 

We currently serve approximately 625 students in grades K4-5th grade. Wellford Academy has grown in enrollment over the past several years, but as a Title I school we are very fortunate to still have smaller than average class sizes which is a benefit for all of our students. 

As Wellford Academy is a science and technology magnet school, we want our students to have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in all areas of STEM. During the 2024-2025 school year you will notice an expanded magnet curriculum across our school. Some of the additions include: 

• Implementation of the Four C’s of STEM Education (Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Creativity) 

• A dedicated STEM coach that will work with all grade levels 

• Project Lead the Way Classroom for all students in grades 1-5

• Brain Boosters curriculum for 2nd grade 

• Addition of multimedia and robotics in grades 3-5

• Continuation of design instruction with Tinkercad and our 3D printers 

• STEM showcases for each grade level 

Wellford Academy is truly a special place with wonderful students, a dedicated and caring staff, and located in the supportive Wellford community.
