Today Mrs.Linkous' social studies classes use Hexagonal Thinking to review their unit on Egypt. This strategy encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and the exploration of connections between concepts. They all did such a great job!

Today we are highlighting our Caribbean friends in the Dominican Republic by featuring Arroz on Leche (Rice Pudding).

Round Two of Book Clubs for Mrs. Bo’s and Mrs. Quinby's GT classes. The two classes combine weekly for mixed book clubs in which every student has a role/ responsibility to contribute to their group.
Nurse Kimberly came and talked to the 8th grade Medical Detectives classes about CPR. The students enjoyed getting to practice what they’ve been learning. Thank you Nurse Kimberly for all you do for our students.

Mrs. Harper's students celebrated the end of Hispanic Heritage Month with a mini-research project. Students got to explore different Hispanic personalities from athletes and singers to scientists and politicians.
And they did it again! Our undefeated lady wolves now go 9 and 0! Way to go ladies!
The recipe of the day today is Mofongo. This dish comes from Puerto Rico. It is a great blend of their culture from Spain, Antilles, West Africa and Taino (natives).

Last week Pastor Fenn Williamson from Newspring Church spoke to our 8th graders at FCA. We would like to welcome Pastor Chandler Davis back this Thursday at 7:30 am. All 7th graders are invited to join us this week at FCA.
Mrs. Kay’s math class started a new unit by using Algebra Tiles to build expressions and combine like terms.
Well, our AVID Store was a great success! We are so proud of our AVID students and thankful for Mr. Watson for all of their leadership and hard work!
Our very first Wolves of the Workforce event is in the books! Julie Mitchell, Physical Therapist and parent of 6th Grader, Lila, shared about her career with our students today. She even brought some of the tools that she uses on the job! We are thankful for the time and knowledge she shared with us today. We may have some future Physical Therapists in our Pack!
Today we bring you 2 new recipes! While there are different recipes for all this wonderful food, we are trying to find simple ones that are easy to put together when cooking. We are combining 2 countries so we are doing 2 recipes. Colombia and Venezuela are our featured places today. As you might know, Venezuela and Ecuador used to be part of Colombia (called Gran Colombia) and hence their flags are similar. The first recipe is Arepas. Arepas are staples of South American and Panamanian cuisine. Panama also used to be part of Colombia. These can be served with butter or can be filled with cheeses and/or meat. William, a 6th grader, says: "These can be delicious when made with love and care." Martin, also a 6th grader, says that he prefers to eat them for breakfast or as a snack. Students in Mrs. Quinby’s class enjoyed time in our collaboration room while participated in a Socratic seminar to share their interpretations of and explore the theme and ideas presented in the poem “The Clock Man” by Shel Silverstein.
The Wolves drop 2 games to Beech Springs this week in some defensive battles. They look to bounce back next week on Wednesday against D.R. Hill at Abner Creek Middle School. Go Wolves!
