thankful for you

At Wellford Academy, November has become a month dedicated to practicing and celebrating gratitude, as students and families embrace this character word both in and out of the classroom. Through a variety of meaningful activities, our school community is actively reflecting on what it means to be grateful—and finding ways to express it!

Food Drive for Thanksgiving

One way Wellford students and families are showing gratitude is through our Thanksgiving Food Drive. This friendly competition allows students to support their favorite team—Clemson or South Carolina—by bringing in non-perishable food items. Not only does this give families an opportunity to help those in need, but it also reinforces the value of giving and thinking of others. It’s heartwarming to see our students, parents, and teachers working together to make a difference in the lives of families who need a little extra support this season.

Grateful Letters to Teachers

Students have also been busy writing letters to express their gratitude to teachers. Through these heartfelt notes, students share the big and small ways that their teachers make a difference in their lives every day. Families are encouraged to join in as well, sending their own letters of appreciation. The letters have brought countless smiles and brightened the halls of Wellford Academy, reminding teachers just how valued and appreciated they are.

Student Writing on Gratitude

In addition to these activities, our students have taken time in the classroom to write about the things they’re grateful for. From family and friends to teachers and school activities, the responses have shown that our students have a deep understanding of what gratitude means. This writing exercise has allowed them to reflect on what they value most and share it with others, fostering an environment of thankfulness and kindness.

Building a Culture of Gratitude

At Wellford Academy, we believe that cultivating gratitude enriches our school culture and builds a strong sense of community. This month has shown that, whether through giving, writing, or simply saying "thank you," expressing gratitude is a powerful way to bring joy and positivity to others. We’re so proud of our students and families for embracing this character word and making a positive impact.

As we continue to focus on gratitude throughout November, we look forward to seeing even more ways our Wellford community will spread kindness, appreciation, and generosity. Thank you to everyone who is helping us build a culture of gratitude here at Wellford Academy!
