Wellford Academy has been buzzing with excitement as students and families dive into a world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM)! The past week has been filled with hands-on learning, problem-solving, and family fun, showcasing the incredible STEAM opportunities happening at our school.
The celebration kicked off last Friday with our Wacky Weather STEAM Showcase, where students put their critical thinking skills to the test to help a worried Wesley prepare for extreme weather. From tornado-proof structures to flood-resistant designs, students used creativity and innovation to find solutions for our beloved mascot.
The STEAM fun didn’t stop there! Wellford Academy hosted its annual STEAM Family Night, an event that brought together students, families, and special guests from Duke Energy to explore over 20 interactive STEAM stations. The energy in the room was electric as families coded robots, examined their own fingerprints, built roller coasters, and played engaging games. The night was filled with smiles, laughter, and the joy of learning together.
At Wellford Academy, we believe that STEAM education sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and prepares students for the future. These hands-on experiences are not just about learning concepts but about creating memories that inspire a lifelong love of discovery.
