Career and Technology Education Funding
Funding for Career and Technology Education comes from three primary sources: Federal funds (through the Carl J. Perkins Act), State funds for Equipment and Work-based learning, and local funding.
Each year, program areas are required to submit a funding plan for the coming year, describing the program funding needs for the year and how that funding will meet the goals of program growth and development.
Following submission of the forms in the spring, the Director of CATE Education will prioritize the funding requests present the information to the District Five Advisory Council for input and guidance at the final meeting of the year.
Once approved, the requests are written into the LEAs Local Plan for the coming school year for state approval. Principals, bookkeepers and CATE teachers are sent a copy of the award letter that identifies the specific item(s) that were approved for the year as well as directions for completing the expenditure of these funds.
