District Five Cell Phone Policy

To create a phone-free school environment that fosters a positive learning experience free from electronic distractions, Spartanburg District Five Schools will officially be "cell phone free" beginning on January 1, 2025.

This policy has been developed in compliance with General Appropriations Bill, H. 5100, Proviso 1.103, and is mandatory for all school districts in the state of South Carolina. It applies to all grades, Kindergarten through 12th, for the 2024-25 school year.

This policy also aligns with the South Carolina Department of Education's "Free to Focus" initiative, supporting student success by removing distractions and encouraging collaboration, focus, and meaningful interactions.
