Spartanburg District Five Schools is continuing its commitment to value the dedication of all its employees, rewarding their hard work with a well-deserved raise this upcoming school year.  The significant pay increase, included in the district’s 2024-25 budget, was unanimously approved by the District Five Board of Trustees in a meeting Monday night. 

As part of the budget, all eligible teachers on the District Five teacher salary scale will receive a $2650 raise, in addition to their normally scheduled step increase.  All other eligible District Five staff members will receive their scheduled step increase plus a 3% raise.

The $146,175,541 budget represents approximately a 12% increase over the previous fiscal year, and marks the 15th consecutive year District Five has passed a budget with no millage increase for general operations.

The new budget. which supports District Five’s continued and substantial growth, includes several other key highlights:

  • 108.5 new positions districtwide to serve two brand new schools, along with accommodating growth

  • Addition of a monitor salary schedule to allow for salary increases for bus and lunch monitors

  • More than $230,000 in security upgrades, to include standing metal detectors for the district's new middle schools, new handheld metal detectors for usage in other schools, and new school bus cameras

Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary praised the passage of the new budget, and thanked the District Five Board for their support.  “This is an historic time in District Five, and this upcoming year marks the beginning for a new chapter, with the opening of multiple new schools and projects,”  Dr. Gary says.  “As we grow, it’s critical that we continue to reward the commitment of our hardworking teachers and staff.  They are the foundation of success for our students and schools.”
