For the first time in 25 years, the James F. Byrnes High School Rebel Regiment marching band can call themselves the "Grand Champion" of a Bands of America Regional competition. The Rebel Regiment marched away from the Carolina Regional Saturday, October 12, with the top trophy in hand, along with a first place award in "General Effect." The last time the Rebel Regiment was crowned champion of a Bands of America Regional event was in 1999.
The win also marks the first time since 2004 that the Rebel Regiment has beaten friendly in-state rival, Wando High School.
The Bands of America Carolina Regional competition featured some of the top high school marching bands from across the Southeast.
Congratulations to our Byrnes High School Rebel Regiment!
