Mailboxes across District Five will soon be brightened with the artwork of a River Ridge Elementary School student! Yana Tsvyd, a 5th grader at River Ridge, has been selected as the 2024 winner for District Five's Holiday Card artwork contest!
Yana's playful gnomes, full of bright colors and holiday cheer, were chosen from dozens of other top designs created by students across the district. Each year, art teachers from each of District Five's elementary schools have students creat holiday card artwork for the annual competition. Teachers pick the top designs, which are then sent before a district selection committee.
As the winning artist, Tsvyd was honored before the district's Board of Trustees, along with her art teachers, Lorie Goode. The 5th grader was also presented with a certificate and 50 copies of her holiday card to send out to her own family and friends. Her artwork will also be framed and presented to the school at a later date.
