January Shining Stars

Two Spartanburg District Five schools are being recognized for going above and beyond to keep their campuses as "shining" examples for students, staff and the community!

Tyger River Elementary School and Abner Creek Middle School were the recent recipients of the "Shining Star" award, for the elementary and secondary level, respectively. The district honor, established this year, celebrates the hard work and dedication of our custodial teams who work extra hard to make their schools clean, safe, and inviting for students, staff, and visitors. Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary, along with other District administrators, surprised the two schools with the news earlier this month.

Each quarter, one elementary school and one at the secondary level will be selected as a "Shining Star" for their outstanding commitment to providing a welcoming environment for students, staff, and families. This recognition highlights the essential role our custodians play in maintaining a space where students feel comfortable, valued, and ready to learn.

Congratulations to the custodial teams at Tyger River Elementary and Abner Creek Middle School for setting a shining example!
