Induction teacher of the year finalists

As they wrap up their first year in the classroom, some Spartanburg District Five teachers received some exciting news this week! The District announced four finalists for the 2025 District Five Induction Teacher of the Year award, an honor given annually to one outstanding first-year educator who stands out for their exceptional talent and the impact they've had on students.

Congratulations to these finalists: Madison Montjoy (7th grade Math teacher at Abner Creek Middle School), Sydney Thompson (Kindergarten teacher at Berry Shoals Elementary School), Nick Verity (10th-12th grade Government, Economics and Sociology teacher at Byrnes High School), and Christian Wood, 4th grade teacher at Lyman Elementary School).

The finalists will now advance to an interview stage, where they'll be evaluated by an outside panel of judges. The District Five Induction Teacher of the Year will be announced in May.
