We are so thrilled to congratulate Kelly Jewett, of Byrnes High School, who was named the Spartanburg County STEM Educator of the Year this evening! 🎉 The award, presented by the Spartanburg Science Center, recognizes one educator who exemplifies excellence in STEM education in the classroom 🔬🧪🧫 Ms. Jewett was selected from 7 finalists, representing each of Spartanburg's seven school districts 💯 #WeAreD5

Today totally 🎸ROCKED🎸 for students & staff at Lyman Elementary School! 🎶 For National "Rock Your School" Day, students became ⚡️ROCK STARS ⚡️, while teachers focused on fun, engaging lessons that elevated learning ⬆️ From dancing through the decades in 2nd grade 🎤 to making pet rocks in 4th 🪨, it was a great day! 💯 #WeAreD5

Jamie Landon, a 6th grade teacher at Beech Springs Intermediate School, got a special visit and delivery from Waldrop Home Services 💯 Mrs. Landon was nominated for Waldrop 5K Teacher Giveaway because of her outstanding work in the classroom 🍎📚📝 She received a $1000 check and a HUGE congratulations! 🎉 We're so proud! 👏 #WeAreD5

We were thrilled to honor several individuals at our September Board of Trustees meeting this week! 🎉 Nathan Jones and Beatriz Lopes, both students at Byrnes High School, were honored for being named National Merit Semi-Finalists 💯 Also, Cindy Sanders, a Career Development Facilitator at Byrnes, was recognized for being named the 2023 Upstate Career Specialist of the Year! 👏 Project Lead the Way and BioMedical Teacher, Kelly Jewett, was also congratulated for being named the District Five STEM Educator of the Year by the Spartanburg Science Center.
